Prince Harry will spend four weeks visiting Australia, before taking it home with him as a gift to his family.
The surprise decision comes just days after a group of demonstrators tried to reclaim Australia for themselves.
Australia has been on loan from Britain since 1901. It is expected that the souvenir will be displayed in the British Museum in London, along with other knick-knacks from around the world.
“There’s really no better memento of my time here in Australia,” Prince Harry said today.
