Betting company Sportsbet has announced it will pay out on a Carlton flag now, rather than wait for the Blues’ inevitable victory in September.
Noting that the season was as good as done, Sportsbet spokesperson Johnno Playford said it was hard to see how Carlton could lose it from here.
“We’ve looked at the stats, we’ve run a few different scenarios and with just four months to go until the grand final, we really can’t see any other result other than a Carlton flag,” he said.
“Everything’s pointing to the Blues in 2019, so it just makes sense to pay out now, rather than wait for the season to just go through the motions”.
Fans who have already placed a bet on a Carlton premiership this year will receive a pay out this week. “We’ll get in touch with both of them directly,” Playford said.
