Prime Minister Scott Morrison has gathered media together in a regular Sydney pub to announce that – out of respect for Australia’s service men and women – he won’t be campaigning today.
Positioning himself in the middle of the pub with a beer in hand, Mr Morrison said he was spending today like any ordinary Aussie, sharing a beer with swinging voters and eighteen cameramen.
“The last thing we want to do is politicise Anzac Day, less than three weeks out from the most important election in a generation,” Morrison told the media pack.
Bill Shorten later called a press conference to say he wouldn’t be campaigning either.
