Saying it was focused on solving the big issues facing the nation, the Government confirmed it would spend its final days discussing how to regulate cake sales at weddings.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said that when it came to the important issues like energy security and housing affordability, legislating cakes at weddings was the important first step.
“Of course, this issue extends well beyond just cakes and bakers to flowers and florists as well. And then there’s the issue of birthday cakes versus wedding cakes. It’s such a complex matter”.
He said time was running out to make an impact. “My Government may only be in existence for a few more weeks, so I want to be very sure that we table crucial legislation now. It would be quite a legacy”.
