The world is in shock this week after reports revealed a Russian man who has subverted the democratic process, engineered an extended reign as leader, and crushed all opposition, may also be illegally avoiding tax.
One reporter said the size of the trail of money that led to the man – who imprisons political activists, restricts free media, and once annexed a neighbouring nation – was astounding. “I never would’ve picked this,” she said.
The man has denied the reports, which appeared in newspapers around the world, although not in Russian ones.
