Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton claims to have the support required to be elected managing director of the ABC.
Following Michelle Guthrie’s ousting earlier today, Mr Dutton would need the backing of at least five of the nine board members. So far zero board members – or 115 by Mr Dutton’s count – have thrown their support behind Dutton.
Mr Dutton has called for an urgent vote today to resolve the issue, saying the nation couldn’t deal with the uncertainty any longer. He denies claims of bullying, and has reminded ABC board members that his government has the ability to hire or fire them.
