Former leader Tony Abbott will no longer be remembered as the ‘Environmental Prime Minister’.
That’s the assessment of political historians after the scrapping of The Green Army – a group of unemployed people who picked up rubbish in their spare time.
Mr Abbott’s signature policy, which replaced the previous economy-wide, market-based carbon pricing system and stripped $500 million from Landcare funding, saw the removal of hundreds of weeds across the country.
Mr Abbott will now be remembered for something else. Probably onions.
