Australia, Canada To Withdraw From Climate Change

Australia will lead a coalition of countries, including Canada and potentially India, that will pull out of climate change as early as next week.

Under the plans announced today, alliance countries will leave climate change, avoiding any long-term damage to their respective environments.

A spokesperson for the Australian Government said the strategy was common sense. “Given the dire predictions scientists have made about possible temperature rises over the next twenty to fifty years, climate change is definitely not something we want to be a part of”.

Good comment, Maybe Satire, but I would have put the word “wisdom” in inverted commas. However, I know you meant it to be interpreted that way anyway. Certainly the current Federal Government gives comedians and satirists plenty of ammunition. By the way, I wonder if the Canadian Prime Minister also thinks that if you can’t see something then it doesn’t exist. What a pair of clowns!

Oh yes, the Canadian Prime Minister is very much a part of the “if you hide it, they won’t know” school of thought. From payoffs to senators to closing off debate early, and hiding policy changes in 450-page omnibus bills, the Right Honourable Stephen Harper is as slippery as they come.

Which is precisely why his comment nearly a year ago that invisible things are ridiculous, is so very funny.

I gather that neither the authors of the page nor the those commenting here realize that the “not something we want to be a part of” quote is from an Australian equivalent of the Onion, a satire site that makes up its stories.
