Rupert Murdoch Furious The Sun Didn’t Get Scoop On Secret Rupert Murdoch Tapes

Rupert Murdoch satire

News Corp chief Rupert Murdoch says his flagship tabloid The Sun missed ‘the story of the year’ when it was beaten to the punch by almost every news outlet in the world in reporting the leaked secret recording of his meeting with Sun journalists.

“What kind of operation are we running here?” Mr Murdoch fumed in a meeting with Sun journalists this morning. “Can we really call ourselves investigative journalists? Because one of the richest and most powerful men in the world stood up in front of you, in your own office building I might add, and basically admitted to knowledge of endemic criminal activity. And you go off and write stories about naked soap stars and celebrity divorces.

“I love naked celebrities. I love divorces. But I love winning even more. And this week, we lost”.

Mr Murdoch said there was a time when the Sun was revered for its whatever-it-takes approach to getting the jump on the biggest stories. “It seems we’ve gone soft,” he said.

“It seems we’ve gone soft”. I thought that he was referring to his marital relations. Sorry.
